Planning requires more than a “menu for everyone”: coordinate timing, seating and assistance with the actual guests. Age alone does not explain appetite, taste or support needs. A small welcome bite can bridge a wait without becoming an unplanned first meal. State the mealtime and approximate duration in the invitation. Include late arrivals explicitly and give the kitchen one current plan instead of separate promises about who may reach the main. ### Check how the seating works in practice Someone who needs to get up should not have to displace several guests each time. Check movement space, sightlines and distance to service. Discuss children’s seating with their carers and ask privately about assistance. Test buffet routes with the actual chairs in place, rather than relying on an empty floor plan. ### Choose a clear and complete menu A small seasonal starter, a main with potato or grain accompaniment and a complete vegetable alternative provide a possible lunch structure. Separate sauces or seasoning may help when appropriate. Base choices and portions on actual preferences, not age-based assumptions. Show clearly how mains, sides and sauces form complete plates. ![Roast chicken, potato salad, roasted vegetables and bread for sharing on a wooden dining table](https://deltacatering.at/assets/menu-private-v5-1280.webp) A shared meal needs reachable food and suitable portions. Ask guests directly about preferences and assistance.Illustrative menu idea ### Leave unhurried time after lunch Coffee, a small apple dessert or a family cake can close the meal without filling every minute with activities. Let guests leaving earlier share the main occasion. Agree clearing, the end of staff time and any work remaining until equipment collection. These details help hosts enjoy the slower part of the afternoon. ![Apple strudel slices, apricot-topped cream desserts in glasses and small chocolate cakes](https://deltacatering.at/assets/austrian-desserts-v4-1280.webp) Coffee and small desserts can open the afternoon. Include any existing cake so the finish stays manageable.Illustrative menu idea ### Prepare before your enquiry - Arrival and shared mealtime - Check seating with chairs actually in place - Ask directly about preferences and assistance - Coordinate coffee, clearing and collection ### Questions about this occasion **Is table service always better for several generations?** No. The room, guests and requested support matter. A buffet with table assistance can work, as can a served menu. Compare actual routes and tasks and ask guests what they need instead of deciding from age alone. **How can the menu avoid unnecessary special versions?** Collect exact requirements first. Separate sauces, portion sizes or one complete shared alternative may meet some preferences. This does not replace specific medical or other binding requirements; confirm suitability individually. ### Location and source The City of Vienna district information identifies the location.
